Industry Strategy

Developing a strategy for growth

Scotland Food & Drink has identified 5 key areas in which it will develop its strategy for growth for the industry:

Reputation / Collaboration / Innovation / Skills / Sustainability

These groups comprise individuals drawn from the industry and our partner organisations and will help develop our various projects and support.

Reputation

Reputation

Without being confident about our reputation for having some of the best produce in the world and relaying that key message both at home and overseas, Scotland cannot expect to achieve its ambition to become known as 'A Land of Food and Drink'. A positive reputation is central to our growth and we must tell the world about our produce and brands.

Collaboration

Collaboration

Scotland Food & Drink aims to share best practice across the entire supply chain. Collaborative projects will be encouraged and a Coaching Academy & Excellence Centre is planned as the foundation for developing new sector initiatives.

Innovation

Innovation

Scotland boasts one of the highest research outputs in Europe yet has one of the lowest commercialisation track records. So the Innovation Working Group is tasked with working towards linking commercial needs and academic research into market commercialisation.

Skills

Skills

A globally competitive industry requires a wide range of skills, knowledge and expertise. Working closely with skills, training and educational bodies, Scotland Food & Drink will develop significant leadership and management development programmes, as well as provide access to specialised expertise.

Sustainability

Sustainability

In practical terms sustainable development aims to achieve economic prosperity and employment in a way that recognises the needs of everyone and ensures the effective protection of the environment and natural resources for future generations.
