'Winning at the Scotland Food and Drink Excellence awards has provided us with the opportunity to talk to high end London restaurants. It also led to an invitation from QMS to exhibit at the Bocuse d'Or in Lyon.' (The Bocuse d'Or (the Concours mondial de la cuisine, World Cuisine Contest) is a biennial world chef championship. Named for the chef Paul Bocuse, the event takes place during two days near the end of January in Lyon, France at the SIRHA International Hotel, Catering and Food Trade Exhibition, and is one of the world's most prestigious cooking competitions).
'All the major and local press associations were contacted immediately after the win by Royal Highland Agricultural Society of Scotland (RHASS) and Scotland Food & Drink, who effectively did our PR job for us. There was a great circulation of the awards press release which we, as a small company, could never have achieved alone.'
Local trade has risen as a consequence. 'Winning the award has given us additional opportunities. We deal in premium products and we now have the leverage and the status winning at the Scotland Food and Drink Excellence awards provides to gain entry into previously difficult to access markets (top-end hotels etc.). This has provided significant facilitation and cold calling is much more effective than prior to winning. We've built up a great working relationship with both QMS and a high regard for Scotland Food and Drink as a result.'
