Wiseman Celebrates Britain's 22 Million Volunteers

Robert Wiseman Dairies is celebrating the contribution that millions of volunteers make to society by producing a special edition pack of fresh milk to help raise the profile of Volunteers’ Week.

For three weeks from 25th May, over three million packs of the Wiseman black and white range will carry information about the annual Volunteers’ Week event which takes place from 1st-7th June and celebrates the contribution that volunteers make to various initiatives and charities around the UK.

Over 22 million people in the UK volunteer their spare time in a variety of ways from coaching the local sports team, fundraising activities for charities and improving their environment.

Some 96% of volunteers say they really enjoy spending their time getting involved in these activities and state that it is an important part of their social lives, a way to gain new skills, new friends, have fun and make a difference to a cause they feel passionately about.

Sandy Wilkie, East Kilbride-based Wiseman's sales and marketing director, says: "The Wiseman black and white brand is one of Britain’s fastest-growing brands (source: The Grocer’s Top 100 list in association with Nielsen) and by featuring Volunteers’ Week on pack we are putting the message on the breakfast tables of millions of UK homes.

"Our special edition packs provide us with an opportunity to support the wider community and for retailers, initiatives like this help to keep the milk fixture looking fresh, interesting and engaging for shoppers."

Founded in East Kilbride in 1947 and listed on the London Stock Exchange in 1994, the company operates six dairies as well as distribution depots across Britain, and employs more than 4700 staff.
