Business7 reports that Susan McCann came up with the recipe - a mix of red chillis and fresh strawberries - five years ago "but after being made redundant last year she decided the invention might give her another career".

According to the report, jars of her JUSTaddCHILLI sauce are being stocked by Waitrose in Newton Mearns. Susan is quoted: "I still can’t really believe it. To have my homemade condiment sold in one of the most famous shops in the country is a dream come true.

"I never imagined I would be selling it to anyone, let alone Waitrose. Seeing them on the shelf was a great feeling and made me and all my family very proud. I’m now hoping it will be a success and it will eventually be available in all Waitrose stores in Scotland."

Business7 reports that Susan makes more than 100 jars every week to keep up with demand.

She also sells through deli chain Peckham's, has been listed by Hopetoun House Farm Shop in South Queensferry and also sells direct via her website.

Alaistair Kennedy, adviser at Business Gateway, is quoted in the Business7 article: "The success of JUSTaddCHILLI in such a short period of time has been remarkable and we are delighted with the way the business is developing.

"Susan uses our one-to-one advice service on a regular basis and is keen to explore further ways we can support her as she takes the business forward."
