East Kilbride-based Wiseman is inviting people at the show to take part in a contest where participants drink a 500ml carton of freshnlo, the UK’s first semi-skimmed milk, as fast as they can in a bid to be crowned champion.

Anyone over the age of 14 can take part in the competition which aims to encourage people to drink more milk.

The gauntlet has been laid down to the Young Farmers' Clubs across Scotland as they compete in a separate competition for a share of £1000 prize money.

The elimination rounds (Friday, 24th June) will see clubs from the north, east and west of Scotland enter a team of a male and female competitor, whose combined time will be pitted against other clubs in the region.

Ahead of the elimination rounds a special 'Battle of Britain' contest will take place as England’s current strongest man, Eddie Hall, takes on Gregor Edmunds, a former Scotland’s strongest man and Highland Games champion. They, too, will take on the challenge to see who will reign supreme.

Sandy Wilkie, Wiseman sales and marketing director, says: "The Wiseman freshnlo challenge is a key part of our activity at this year’s Royal Highland Show, and the Young Farmers' contest helps us demonstrate that milk can be cool and fun and we hope to encourage people to drink even more.

"I’m really looking forward to the strongmen contest – milk is an important part of their diet both in training and recovery; now for pride, let the battle commence!"

The top two clubs from each of the regions (west, east and north Scotland) will then progress to the semi-final which will take place on the Saturday afternoon of the show, with the final taking place that same day.

The Royal Highland Show takes place at Ingliston from 23-26 June.
