Simon food and beverage director at the Old Course Hotel, Golf Resort & Spa and Ross, voted Young Scottish Chef of the Year and head chef at the Resort's three-rosette Road Hole Restaurant, will cook their favourite signature dishes live – and will also pass on some of their gastronomic hints and tips to whet the appetites of festival-goers.
Launched in Edinburgh five years ago, the Foodies Festival now enjoys unprecedented success with shows taking place all over the UK. It is taking place in the city's Holyrood Park.
Simon and Ross take centre stage at the festival's showpiece attraction – the Chef's Theatre – on Friday 12th at 4pm. "It is a great honour to be asked to the Foodies Festival, especially in Edinburgh where it began," said Simon.
"Ross and I have a real passion for using the very best local, regional and Scottish produce – and we are excited to be able to demonstrate just what is on offer at the five-red star Old Course Hotel, especially as the audience are so knowledgable about food and its provenance.
"Ross has really come into his own since taking on the role of head chef earlier this year, and Foodies is a great platform for him to wow the audience with his exceptional skills."
Ross said: "This is a real whirlwind year for me – and to be asked to cook for the Foodies audience is another highlight.
"The festival is all about celebrating the finest food, drink and culinary talent and we are thrilled to be able to showcase what is on offer at the resort.
"I am from Edinburgh and the event is a fabulous draw for those who love their food so I hope people will come along and be inspired by the food, drink and cooking."
The festival has a new 'Great Taste Market' this year, featuring stallholders whose products have won a prestigious Great Taste Award in the last three years and it is a real cross–over, including some of the best talent from the city's Fringe all adding to the flavour of the event by providing a taste of the best music, dance and comedy.
Foodies director Sue Hitchen commented: "Foodies Festivals have proved to be an incredible success.
"We have a fantastic opportunity to bring Foodies Festivals to areas that have a wealth of fantastic producers and a great line-up of chefs to showcase. It is a great opportunity to bring these features to people who love food and want to celebrate it."
