During his visit to the show – now in its 147th year – the First Minister is expected to meet exhibitors and competitors.

He is also set to view a range of stands, stalls and displays, including those specialising in farming, renewables, local crafts, and food and drink.

Speaking ahead of his visit, the First Minister said: "I’ve been enjoying my trips to the Turriff Show for many years and I’m very much looking forward to this weekend’s visit.

"The world-renowned show is, of course, famous for animals and agriculture but there is also so much more to see. As well as the farming stalls and animal shows, I’m also keen to pay a visit to some of the stands specialising in other crucial contributors of the rural economy like renewables and food and drink.

"As always, I’m sure it’s going to be a terrific day out showcasing the best of the north-east."
