Launching this month (August), the popular website will feature over 20,000 dishes and over 20 different types of cuisine from 200 different takeaways in and around Glasgow, promising hungry customers easy online ordering at the click of a mouse.
"It’s a simple idea, tried and tested, and that’s why it will work so well for the takeaway trade," said Charles Shaw of 5pm.co.uk.
"From Indian to Thai, we’ve brought lots of different takeaways together under one roof. Effectively, it’s a one-stop-shop for takeaways where foodies can order their favourite food in a matter of seconds, and we think it’s going to be very popular."
The new 5pm.co.uk service will allow customers the chance to browse takeaway menus, read reviews from other users, and order and pay securely online for delivery or collection.
Shaw added: "The new service is reliable and an easy-to-use method for ordering your takeaway. Even better, it removes all the hurdles associated with ordering a takeaway, such as scrambling around to find a menu or having to continuously redial a busy line.
"5pm Takeaway will find all takeaways that deliver to your address, introducing you to new ones that you didn’t know serviced your area. Paying online with the benefit of 5pm’s safe and trusted payment service is another bonus.
"Since launching our original restaurant service all those years ago, we now operate across the UK but our heartland is Scotland where we have just over 200,000 registered users. We have also recently successfully expanded to include health and beauty offers too.
"With more people enjoying restaurant-quality food in their own home, it made sense to introduce a takeaway service and we look forward to rolling out the service to the rest of Scotland soon, starting with Edinburgh next month."
