The Dunfermline-based distributor, which was started six-years ago by 28-year-old owner and director, Joe Wall, has gone from strength to strength, gaining a customer base that stretches from the Borders to the Highlands and Islands.

Last year Wall made the decision to develop the services offered by the business from strictly ambient to chilled.

"Making the leap into the chilled market was a big step for The Cress Company, and luckily the move has paid off," he said.

Despite the fine food industry being affected by the ongoing recession, The Cress Company has been able to withstand this to produce year-on-year growth.

Said Wall: "I think the move to the north of England will be a real test for The Cress Company but one I feel we have the drive and expertise to deal with."

The delivered service will begin in early September and will extend down as far as Darlington.
