The hunt is on to find the Scotland’s first Game Chef of the Year, sponsored by Braehead Foods of Ayrshire.

Launched as the grouse season gets under way, Braehead Foods, Scotland’s leading game supplier, is proud to be supporting the inaugural Game Chef of the Year competition.

The winner will be announced following a live cook-off on January 30th next year at The Cook School Scotland at Kilmarnock.

Braehead Foods' managing director, Craig Stevenson, said: "We are delighted to be supporting this new competition.

The competition judges are:

  • Tom Kitchin, Michelin-starred chef at The Kitchin and Castle Terrace
  • Martin Wishart, Michelin-starred chef at Restaurant Martin Wishart and The Honours
  • Ian McAndrew of the Academy of Culinary Arts and Blackaddie Country House Hotel
  • Kevin McGillivray of the Federation of Chefs and Head Chef at Barceló Troon Marine Hotel

The prizes are:

1st Prize – A night in the snow-covered woodlands of the frozen north of Sweden hunting wild boar in the company of Michelin award-winning chef Tom Kitchin (organised by Highland Game)

2nd Prize – (awarded to the top three entries) A day’s driven pheasant shooting on the rolling Border hills around Lauder in southern Scotland, accompanied by chef judges Ian McAndrew, Martin Wishart and Kevin McGillivray (Organised by Eskdale Shooting Services)
