Sainsbury's Local Opens in Glasgow City Centre

Sainsbury's opens its new 'Local' store in West George Street today, creating 35 jobs for local residents.

Among the new recruits is Sara Bryce. She has been taken on as a full time colleague and said: "I can really see myself progressing within the company, and have found them very encouraging. I'm looking forward to starting in the new store and providing great service to the people of Glasgow."

The new 3,000sq ft store will be opened by Billy from Erskine, the stores local charity.

The store, situated in West George Street outside Queen Street station, will stock a range of high quality fresh produce, plus and in store bakery and hot food department. The store will also provide 6 self-scan checkouts for the customer that's on the go.

Store Manager Eric Shiels added: "This will be a much needed convenience store for the large numbers of commuters who use Queen Street station every day. We will be open longer hours than most local stores to provide a much needed service to the people of Glasgow."
