The fifty miles campaign is supported by Nourish Scotland, Soil Association Scotland, Fife Diet, Sustaining Dunbar and Tweed Green.

Participating farm shops, farmers’ markets, restaurants and specialist retailers across Scotland are using the fifty-mile stickers to showcase their local produce and menus.

After enjoying  a fifty-mile breakfast, Christine Grahame commented: “Scotland has a tremendous range of small local producers and this initiative will help them connect with customers and get more people eating the great seasonal food available on their doorstep.”

The fifty-mile breakfast included honey, eggs, bacon, sausage and tomato from the farm; porage from Hogarth at Kelso; milk from Clyde Organics; and bread baked with farm-grown wheat by Andrew Whitley of Bread Matters.
