Earlier this year, the coveted Young Chef of the Year title in the Scotland Food & Drink Excellence Awards went to the resort's Ross Marshall  while the world-famous hotel also scooped the top award for Success through Working in Partnerships for its work in helping suppliers promote their products.

This is the seventh time since 2004 that The Old Course Hotel has brought the award back to the Home of Golf – recognised as the very best in Scotland.

The prestigious accolade for the 5 Red Star Old Course Hotel reflects the continued commitment and hard work of the resort's team to provide the ultimate Scottish golf experience through a combination of outstanding service, luxurious accommodation, gourmet cuisine, the award-winning Kohler Waters Spa, and its own championship heathland course as well as easy access to some of Scotland’s most beguiling and infamous links courses.

The prestigious awards ceremony, staged in Turkey, highlighted the superb golfing facilities on offer at the resort's own course The Duke’s, including the stunning Clubhouse with its spectacular panoramic views over the Auld Grey Toon, the West Sands and the Grampian Mountains.

The Clubhouse offers five–star service and the finest Scottish cuisine at The Duke’s Bar & Grill.

This recognition for the resort in the World Travel Awards comes hot on the heels of its recent success for the hotel's spa – awarded the highest "five bubbles" in The Good Spa Guide for its Kohler Waters Spa.

Resort general manager Daniel Pereira said: "It is such an honour to be named Scotland’s Leading Golf Resort in the face of such fierce and highly regarded competition.

"St Andrews already has a fabulous reputation for golf. We strive to be the very best – where VIP is standard for all of our guests – so to be recognised in this way is a real testament to the hard work and efforts of our entire team."

The Old Course Hotel, Golf Resort & Spa, a member of The Leading Hotels of the World, has 144 rooms including 35 suites, and borders the 17th Road Hole of the world-famous Old Course.
