These 16 Regional Pub of the Year winners will now compete to be crowned National Pub of the Year, with the announcement made in early 2012.

Pubs are judged by CAMRA's 130,000 members on all the criteria that make a great pub, including atmosphere, decor, customer service, value for money, clientele mix, and most importantly, the quality of the real ale and cider/perry.

The Scotland & Northern Ireland title has gone to the Fox and Hounds in Houston, Renfrewshire. Established in 1779, this coaching inn is home to the Houston Brewing Company.

The Fox & Vixen lounge offers the full range of Houston beers, including its seasonal and a guest ales, and has a viewing window to the brewery.

Meanwhile, The Stables bar serves three Houston beers and has multiple TV screens for all sporting occasions. The Huntsman bar and an a la carte restaurant are upstairs. Themed beer festivals are held every May and August.

The CAMRA Good Beer Guide 2012, sponsored by Cask Marque and the Society of Independent Brewers, features 1047 new pub entries and 99 new breweries.
