Wishart, who opened his brasserie brand, The Honours, in the capital in July, is said to be planning to open a second branch in Glasgow.
A report at the weekend revealed that the award-winning chef is currently seeking suitable premises.
Scotland on Sunday quotes Wishart: "I feel Glasgow is a great city and it's got some great dining people, great suppliers and good restaurants.
"I feel what we do currently at The Honours is something we can transfer over to Glasgow and perhaps other cities in Scotland and, with the right staff and management, create the same brand identity."
Martin Wishart has won many plaudits for his Michelin-starred Restaurant Martin Wishart in Leith. In 2009, he expanded the concept to Martin Wishart at Loch Lomond at Cameron House, Loch Lomond.
