A much sought-after collectors' item, the bottle is expected to achieve between £15,000 to £20,000 at auction.

With the focus of each auction on Scottish whiskies, the sale includes a wide range of old and rare single malt whiskies from Scotland's famous distilleries in Speyside, the Highlands, Orkney, Islay, Campbeltown and the Lowlands.

However, the Glenlivet stands out as the most exclusive item in the collection. Distilled on May 19th, 1883 and bottled on December 1931 by George & John Gordon Smith, this bottle was originally the property of Captain William Smith Grant.

Captain Smith Grant was the great-grandson of Colonel George Smith, founder of The Glenlivet Distillery. The bottle has remained within the family ever since.

The buyer of this rare item will not only be purchasing a valuable Glenlivet heirloom, but a piece of history

The whisky sales takes place on October 12th at Bonhams Edinburgh. Find out more.
