Shortlist for Highlands & Islands Restaurant of the Year Award

Five top-quality establishments in the Highlands and Islands have been shortlisted for the Highlands & Islands Food & Drink Forum’s Restaurant of the Year Award.

One of 10 awards being presented at the Highlands & Islands Food & Drink Awards, the winner of Restaurant of the Year will be announced at a glittering award ceremony on Friday, 21 October at Drumossie Hotel, Inverness.

The five shortlisted establishments are:

Recognising excellence and achievement in the food and drink industry, the Awards are supported by Highlands and Islands Enterprise.

As well as the Restaurant of the Year, other award categories recognise healthier food and drink, innovation, new products, new businesses, and businesses working in collaboration with each other.

With strong competition amid a larger entry field than previous years, the shortlisted businesses and organisations demonstrate the top-quality produce available across the area.

Quintin Stevens, co-chair of the Highlands & Islands Food & Drink Awards, said: "The restaurants shortlisted for the Restaurant of the Year have all shown that quality is the focus of their business.

"To have been shortlisted for the Award is already a fantastic achievement. The excellent produce and service available from these establishments is evidence of the quality standards being achieved by the Highland and Islands food and drink industry today."

Hosted by BBC Scotland’s Catriona Shearer, the Awards Dinner will showcase delicious, quality food and drink from the region.

The food and drink industry in the Highlands and Islands generates sales in excess of £1 billion per annum and supports around 30,000 full-time equivalent jobs across the region.

There are over 250 processing businesses and it is a key sector in the region, generating over £500 million in overseas sales.
