Stirling-based Get Juiced, which has received a grant from the Scottish Enterprise Business Growth Pipeline, has worked in partnership with scientists based at Queen Margaret University (QMU) in Edinburgh.
It says it will now be the only fresh juice company in Scotland to use a brand new AMT machine to produce "as fresh as it gets" juice for clients including Gleneagles and the Old Course Hotel, and top bars throughout central Scotland as well as a number of other cafés, delis and restaurants across the country.
The Advanced Microwave Technology (AMT) machine works by killing micro organisms in the juice with minimal effect on its nutrition, taste and physical properties.
With assistance from the Business Growth Pipeline, Get Juiced plans to employ a postgraduate to help with the maintenance and development of the project. This will be a very exciting opportunity involving cutting-edge technology within the Scottish food industry.
To coincide with the development of the new technology, Get Juiced has also created a range of new products and flavours.
Its range of smoothies will be introduced in the form of Banana & Pineapple and Apple & Blackberry as well as a smooth range including Orange and Pink Grapefruit. These products will complement the existing range of fresh orange, apple, pineapple and the popular lemon and lime juices used by many cocktails bars.
Company director Kirstene Feenan said: "This is a fantastic opportunity for Get Juiced to develop our top-of-the-range product further by not only maintaining optimum freshness but also by combining this with a manageable shelflife that will help our customers minimise waste and maximise profit.
"The work we have done with Queen Margaret University has been invaluable. I’m extremely excited about the future through our investment in Scottish technology and the Scottish economy.
"Our ongoing partnership work with the university graduate scheme will help cement our position as a forward-looking, 21st-century company."
Get Juiced has been operating for 12 years and the company was bought in December 2010 by an entrepreneur looking to invest and expand a Scottish business.
The company is focused on promoting the use of Scottish products to Scottish people and has recently completed a rebranding exercise aimed at attracting larger customers such as Waitross.
