The 31st annual Anuga Food and Beverage Fair will take place between 8-12 of October and is likely to see 150,000 visitors from 180 countries come to the event to discover new trends and tastes.

Scottish companies exhibiting at the fair include Walkers, QMS, Baxters, Mackays and Thistly Cross Cider.

Thistly Cross Cider is a young Scottish company with a unique range of traditional and premium fruit ciders to promote at the event.

The company owners regard trade shows like Anuga as the best way to make their products known on a European basis. The show also provides a platform for consumers to taste their products and allows the company to develop distribution links with other companies in Europe.

“We look forward to the opportunity to promote our products in the European marketplace," said Ian Rennie from Thistly Cross Cider.  "We are very proud of what we do and believe in good Scottish hospitality, so we're very keen to encourage everyone who passes our stand to taste our cider!”

SDI 'learning journey' to Anuga

Scottish Development International (SDI) will also be taking a selection of Scottish companies on a learning journey to Anuga. The learning journey will include workshops and 'meet the buyer' events during the fair. Companies on the learning journey include Go Coco, Stoats, MacSweens and Loch Duart Ltd.

“Events like the Anuga conference provide a great opportunity to meet a number of companies, who may be interested in your type of products, over a short period of time all under one roof," said Lesley Robertson from Loch Duart Ltd.

“I hope to gain an insight into the German retail market and identify some key opportunities for our business."

"Learning is the key business benefit"

The Anuga Fair provides an excellent chance for companies to enhance their profile on an international stage and make lasting business links.

Stewart Miller from Tio Ltd is delighted to be part of the SDI learning journey, Speaking in advance of the conference he said: “One of the key business benefits from attending a learning journey is the support culture from the group participation, which includes sharing eachothers export experiences and learning from these. Learning is the key business benefit. Hopefully I will transfer some of these learning experiences into the Tio business.”
