The company, which holds one of the largest collections of rare and vintage whisky casks in the world, took home awards in every category for its portfolio of whiskies, further cementing its reputation as one of the world’s leading independent Scotch whisky specialists.
In addition to being crowned the overall winner in the highly competitive Islay category, Duncan Taylor received gold awards for Octave Caol Ila 1983 and Rare Auld Glen Scotia 1991, as well as silver and bronze medals for Rare Auld Cameronbridge 1979 and Invergordon 1972 – the only single grain whiskies to be recognised in the competition.
"Simply stunning, luscious and aromatic…fabulous…Blimey, how complex do you want a whisky to be!" – these were just some of the comments from the judging panel, made up of leading industry figures and independent whisky writers.
Now in its seventh year, the Independent Bottlers competition is a true challenge for independents who provide whisky enthusiasts with unique expressions from their favourite distilleries.
Chief executive Scott Watson commented: "Success in the Independent Bottlers Challenge represents continuing commitment to our company vision – to provide the worlds’ most exclusive Scotch whiskies without compromise.
"We’ve been in this market for more than 70 years now and we’re still at the top."
