Oban Pupil Wins Co-operative Egg Box Design Competition

A youngster from Barcaldine Primary School, near Oban has won a competition for school children to 'Design an Egg Box' for The Co-operative.

Alec Wall's entry was among over 2000 submitted by artistic pupils nationwide and his deisgn, which shows a chicken in a kilt and a Scottish flag in a field, is being sold in Co-op stores in Scotland during October.

A design by Phoebe Bix from Gravesend features on the special egg boxes in England and Wales.

Alex and Phoebe's schools each received £1000 of art materials and money from the sales of the limited-edition egg boxes will go to The Co-operative’s charity of the year, Mencap and ENABLE Scotland, for the "Inspire Me" programme that provides activities, training and employment opportunities for young people with a learning disability.

The boxes of nine Medium Free Range Eggs will be available in selected Co-operative stores throughout October.
