Adam, who has been Johnston Carmichael’s director of business development for three years, will extend his current role to lead the firm’s growth in the food and drink sector and assist companies within the sector on strategy development and growth.
The Scottish food and drink sector is currently estimated to be worth nearly £12bn per year to the nation’s economy. It is also a significant growth industry where Johnston Carmichael has a wealth of experience, working with over 300 businesses, including Walkers Shortbread, Baxters Food Group, Mackie’s of Scotland and industry body, Scotland Food & Drink.
Adam said: "I have enjoyed working closely with a number of food and drink companies and Scotland Food & Drink in the last three years, so this new role is a natural progression.
"There has been strong growth for the Scottish food and drink sector over the last year, with an increased demand for quality produce, health and provenance.
"Key drivers have included innovation and export. Hwever, there are tough challenges, including the spiralling cost of distribution fuel costs. We have also seen companies innovating and taking advantage of R&D tax relief, an area where we believe we can help many additional businesses going forward."
Sandy Manson, chief executive of Johnston Carmichael, said: "Adam’s appointment in this new role underlines our commitment to the Scottish food and drink sector.
"His new role will be focused on promoting greater understanding of the issues facing the sector and further leveraging off our firm’s knowledge to bring forward new ideas."
