Leading independent food and drink retailers have been honoured in the 2011 Scottish Independent Retail Awards, presented in Glasgow last week.

The organisers received thousands of nominations for the prestigious awards, held in the Marriott Hotel and hosted by broadcaster and journalist, Alison Walker.
Glasgow-based cash and carry group, United Wholesale (Scotland), sponsored the event. Its managing director, Asim Sarwar, commented: "I am very proud to be associated with this event.
"As a business owner, I realise it is of the upmost importance to recognise and applaud those who work tirelessly providing essential products, services and employment to their local communities."
Winners included:
- Convenience Store of the Year: Lothian Superstore (Day-Today), Armadale
- Newsagent/Grocer of the Year: Day-Today, Wishaw
- Off Sales of the Year: The Great Grog Company, Edinburgh
- Fresh Produce Retailer of the Year: Simon Howie Butchers, Auchterarder
- Responsible Retailer of the Year: Lothian Superstore (Day-Tolday), Armadale
- Eatery of the Year: I Café, Glasgow
