The Scotland's Favourites event is a three-week campaign which takes place in Tesco stores throughout Scotland and which aims to promote popular Scottish products among Tesco customers.

The increase in orders for the two lines was such that workers at the factory in Laurencekirk had to work nightshift throughout the promotion and the company took on five extra temporary staff to help cope with the demand.

Len Duncan, owner of Duncan’s of Deeside, said: "We are delighted to have been included in Tesco’s Scotland ’s Favourites promotion and we are absolutely thrilled with the sales success that our oatcakes and shortbread lines have experienced as a result.

"Now in our third generation, we are an award-winning family-run bakery with over two decades of experience. We are committed and passionate about what we do, which shows not only in our products but in the service we deliver to all of our customers."

Lynne Roxburgh, Tesco regional marketing manager, said: "Our Scotland’s Favourites campaign celebrates the best in Scottish produce and is a fantastic platform for Scottish brands such as Duncan’s of Deeside to increase awareness of their products among customers and, ultimately, increase sales and revenue.

"This is the forth year that we have run this event in-store and it continues to grow year-on-year. The 2011 event featured over 300 promotions of some of the nation’s favourite food and drink products."
