The Midlothian Food and Drink logo was used for the first time by local food and drink producers and retailers at the BBC Good Food Show Scotland last month.
Andrew McDonald, vice-chair of Midlothian Tourism Forum, said: "The Midlothian Food and Drink Directory is already an important source of information for both locals and visitors to Midlothian and by developing a new logo for the brand, we aim to increase local knowledge and encourage people to shop and eat locally, supporting local businesses and our wider economy."
Working in partnership with Midlothian Council, the new logo was developed by Midlothian Tourism Forum following industry feedback on the publication of Midlothian's first Food and Drink Directory.
Councillor Adam Montgomery, the Provost of Midlothian, added: "The Scottish Government declared 2010-2011 as the Year of Food and Drink. However, food and drink will continue to be one of the most important sectors for Midlothian tourism - and indeed the Scottish economy - for many years to come.
"We hope the new logo will help to further build on recent tourism achievements."
Meanwhile, Midlothian Tourism Forum - in partnership with Midlothian Council - is holding an event to launch the new brand for Midlothian Food and Drink on Tuesday, 8th November.
Food and drink producers/suppliers and hospitality providers in Midlothian are invited to attend to learn more about the new brand and how it could help their business. There will be opportunity to hear from guest speakers, discover more on funding opportunities and network with peers in the hospitlaity industry.
The event will take place at the National Mining Museum Scotland, Newtongrange, Midlothian from 3pm-5pm. Anyone wishing to attend should contact Caroline Wight on 0131 271 3432.
This project is part-financed by the Scottish Government, Midlothian Council and the European Community Tyne Esk Leader 2007-2013 Programme.
