The newly-formed partnership between SPAR Drymen and Edenmill Farm forms part of a trial taking place across CJ Lang Ltd stores in Scotland.
The Drymen outlet is the third test store to adopt the idea of promoting produce from a local butcher.
While the trial is still in its infancy, early indications suggest that it could be rolled out to company-owned and independent SPAR stores throughout Scotland in the future.
This initiative forms part of SPAR Scotland’s wider strategy to enhance the reputation of SPAR convenience stores to provide a fresh food offering that rivals the multiples.
Edenmill Farm’s Mark Gibson said: “I’m delighted that in working locally with SPAR we are accomplishing our belief that food should be from farm to plate in less than 50 miles.
“In addition, by getting local produce into local shops we are benefiting rural employment and, in turn, the rural economy.”
SPAR Scotland is always on the lookout for the best local produce to not only satisfy the needs of its customers but also to support local producers.
