The main findings are:

• Scottish manufactured export sales grew by 0.2 per cent in real terms during the third quarter of 2011

• On an annual basis, comparing the most recent four quarters to the previous four quarters (4Q-on-4Q), manufactured export sales grew 2.7 per cent in real terms

• In the latest quarter the largest contribution to growth was from the drink sector, which saw export sales grow 3.0 per cent in real terms. There was also growth in the metal products, other manufacturing, and mechanical engineering sectors, offset by falls from the chemicals and electrical & electronic engineering sectors

• On an annual basis, comparing the latest four quarters to the previous four quarters, growth has been strongest in the food & drink, other manufacturing, and chemical sectors
