Cosmo Products, based at Newtongrange, near Edinburgh, is looking to fill the gap between the traditional Burns Supper – with its address to the haggis and lengthy speeches – and those looking to celebrate the birthday of Scotland’s bard in a less formal style.
Part of Cosmo’s luxury range of pizzas, the haggis pizza is claimed to be the UK’s only retail haggis pizza and is topped with the famous Macsween haggis, alongside the more traditional Italian toppings of tomato and mozzarella.
The Macsween family has been making its delicious award-winning haggis in Edinburgh for over 50 years – a perfect match for the traditional, authentic Italian-style cooking created by Cosmo who has been cooking in Scotland for the same period.
The business is now run by the founder’s family and headed by his son, Cosmo Tamburro Jnr.
Cosmo paid tribute to Robert Burns with a one-off pizza portrait of the bard fashioned in haggis. But the haggis pizza Burns Supper does not need to be too alternative, as whether the haggis is addressed or not, it still goes very well with the traditional dram of whisky.
There is Scotland-wide availability of the Cosmo haggis pizza in Sainsbury’s, Tesco, Asda, Scotmid, Waitrose and Morrisons, so consumers can toast buon appetito this Burns.
