The event will take place at Norton House Hotel, Edinburgh on Thursday, 25th November and is a great opportunity for suppliers to expand their network, generate new business opportunities, potential leads, customers and greater awareness of their services and what they can offer convenience retailers.

As the Edinburgh-based SGF embarks on a major strategy review the evening session will see presentations given from not only SGF personnel, but also retailers and suppliers, both members and non-members, discussing the benefits of membership and any additional services they would like SGF to provide to ensure membership reflects the modern, vibrant industry that convenience retailing is today.

Speakers already confirmed include Graeme Knowles, SGF president and owner of G&G Knowles in Aberdeen plus Mike Lees, managing director of Tennent Caledonian Breweries.

More information on the event can be found on the SGF website. The SGF is the trade association for the Scottish convenience store sector and widely regarded as the authoritative voice for the trade to both policymakers and the media.

It brings together retailers throughout Scotland, from most of the Scottish Co-operatives, SPAR, Nisa, KeyStore, Costcutter and local independents. Members sell a wide selection of products and services throughout local town centre, rural and community stores.

According to 2007 statistics there are just over 5,600 convenience stores throughout Scotland, with annual sales in excess of £3.2 billion.

The SGF also promotes responsible community retailing and works with the Government and media to encourage a greater understanding of the contribution convenience retailers make to Scotland ’s communities.
