Best of the West Festival
The appearance of the popular Masterchef: The Professionals 2016 champion and senior chef lecturer at City of Glasgow College is sure to excite aspiring cooks and help cement Argyll’s reputation as a prominent and world-class dining, drinking and travel destination.
And the good news is that early bird tickets are available for the family-friendly festival of music, art, crafts, food and drink held in the grounds of the magnificent Inveraray Castle from 8-10th September 2017.
Commenting on his Best of the West Festival Kitchen debut, Gary Maclean said: “I’m greatly looking forward to joining the line-up of great chefs at Best of the West. I’ve heard a lot of good things about the Festival – and Argyll is home to some great natural produce – so I hope to inspire a few Masterchefs of the future at Best of the West!”
Welcoming Gary Maclean to the Festival, Eleanor Duchess of Argyll, BOWFest chairperson, said: “I’m delighted that Gary is coming to BOWFest! I was one of the many viewers who watched his progression to triumph at Masterchef: The Professionals 2016 and will be amongst the many foodies looking to pick up some tips at his Festival Kitchen appearance.”
Gary joins a star-studded line-up of celebrity chefs already booked for The Best of the West Festival Kitchen, including: Graeme Cheevers, head chef of Restaurant Martin Wishart, Cameron House Hotel, Loch Lomond and Paul Leonard, head chef at The Isle of Eriska Hotel Restaurant, both Michelin star restaurants.
Music headliners at the festival include: Eddi Reader, Skerryvore, Skipinninsh, Blazin' Fiddles, Hunter and the Bear and Tide Lines.
Inveraray Castle, the jewel in the West Highland’s crown, provides a stunning venue for the event, which is fully under cover. The imposing, turreted castle, sits on the edge of Loch Fyne surrounded by the breath-taking scenery of the west coast. The Festival will take place in the grounds of the castle with the castle itself, hills and loch as a backdrop.
This year Best of the West Festival has teamed up with West Coast Motors to provide packages that incorporate special festival bus transport as well as entrance to the festival to and from Glasgow, Oban and Dunoon. To book tickets go to bowfest.co.uk.
