Business Women Scotland

Business Women Scotland are looking to celebrate the stars of the industry with the first ever Women in Hospitality & Tourism Awards, to be held on 19th September at the DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel Glasgow Central. The aim of the awards is to help recognise and increase the number of women working in senior leadership roles across the visitor economy.

The closing date for entries is Tuesday 1st August so there is still time to nominate your star by downloading an entry form here – www.bwsltd.co.uk/awards-ceremony

The mammoth task of selecting the shortlist and agreeing on the winners falls to the expert panel of judges which includes Fiona Richmond (Special Projects Manager, Scotland Food & Drink), David Cochrane (Chief Executive, HIT Scotland) and Susan Russell (Marketing Manager, Festivals Scotland). The judges will be looking for women who have made an impact in their industry through innovation, best practice and delivering outstanding results.

Categories include; Rising Star of the Year, Front of House Star of the Year, HR Star of the Year, Bar of the Year, Restaurateur of the Year, Hotelier of the Year, Venue Manager of the Year, Spa Manager of the Year, Best Place for Women to Work and Business Woman of the Year.

Our MC for the evening is journalist and broadcaster Rachel McTavish, who can be seen on your screens on STV news. She will be joined by guest speakers Fiona Hyslop MSP (Cabinet Secretary for Culture & Tourism), Petra Wetzel (MD, West Brewery) and Alice Beveridge (Director, Tree of Knowledge) who will inspire and entertain us on the evening.

All money raised on the evening will be donated to HIT Scotland, a charitable organisation that helps people achieve their potential in the hospitality industry through scholarships and bursaries. Along with the prestige of winning an award, the judges will select one winner to receive a HIT scholarship to help with their further career development.
