Four new deals have been struck with suppliers as part of a drive by Peckham’s owners to support local producers. The four were all exhibitors at Scotland’s Speciality Food Show held in Glasgow at the end of January and have now secured contracts with Peckham’s two Glasgow shops.

Peckham’s joint owner, Andrew Duncan, said: “We took over the business last year and part of our strategy to refresh it was to overhaul our suppliers and to support as many local producers as possible.

“This trade show was a great opportunity to assess what is available in the Scottish market and to start dealing with innovative speciality brands that will appeal to our customers.”

Deals are now in place with three businesses in Glasgow: plant based cake producer Rawnchy, healthy chocolate maker Rebel Chocolate and Hawkhead Kitchen for whisky smoked cashew nuts. A further contract has been given to Jarvis Pickle, the award winning Eyemouth based handcrafted pie maker.

Organiser of the Speciality Food Show, Mark Saunders, said: “One of the key benefits of any exhibition is giving customers the opportunity to find exciting new suppliers to reinvigorate their offering. We are delighted that Peckham’s found the exhibition so useful and were able to source some new products from the hundreds of innovative food and drink suppliers at Scotland’s Speciality Food Show 2018.”

Tech entrepreneur Duncan, who founded mobile and web technology business SwarmOnline, bought over Peckham’s with food and drink veteran Lee Fish in June 2017 promising to revitalise stock lines.

Duncan added: “We will continue looking for quality Scottish produce and look forward to adding further local suppliers to our list.”
