Digital presence and route to market

Developing e-commerce skills for Scotland’s food and drink businesses

Many food and drink businesses are currently experiencing unprecedented changes as a result of the Coronavirus outbreak. The decimation of the hospitality and catering industry has resulted in a need to identify and engage new and existing customers.

With an increase in at-home consumption of food and drink, producers, farmshops, wholesalers and foodservice companies now have a significant opportunity to sell direct to consumers through online platforms.

How are we supporting you?

This move into online markets may be new for some, with quick decisions being made and newly created e-commerce platforms launched.

Recognising that many businesses would benefit from additional support in building digital routes to markets, Scotland Food & Drink’s UK Market Development team have developed a free, online workshop for businesses who have pivoted to direct to consumer selling.

Who should attend?

The workshop is aimed at artisan, and small to medium-sized food and drink business owners, food group co-ordinators or marketing/sales managers who have recently moved into online sales and are ready to invest in digital solutions to reach and develop new and existing markets.

Event format

The morning is a small, interactive online workshop followed by a pre-booked, 30 minute 1-to-1 clinic in the afternoon for tailored mentoring and advice. Both sessions must take place on the same day.

The workshop will set out the essential principles of effective digital and online marketing and e-commerce opportunities for food and drink businesses, that will enable you to grow your sales and presence in the online world.
