Spotlight on high-fibre claims
High-fibre enriched products are recapturing attention among the health claim range. The increasing demand for healthy products pushes the increase of fibre-focused NPD towards healthier innovation.

Is Scotland ready to help raising awareness of the health benefits of a high fibre diet?

Consumer interest
According to the latest report from Food Standards Scotland (2018), the average daily intake of fibre is 15.6g in Scotland, which is half of the recommended dietary goal of 30g a day.

According to Tate & Lyle, 48% of UK consumers want to increase their fibre intake in their daily consumption. However, over a third of UK consumers perceive there aren’t enough products labelled with fibre on the market. As consumers seek health-boosting ingredients, focusing on high fibre claims could tap into a promising nutrition trend.
