This morning, Scotland Food & Drink hosted a Labour Shortages Roundtable with Professor Brian Bell, Chair of the UK’s Migration Advisory Committee (MAC).
We were joined by senior stakeholders and partners from along the supply chain and heard about the MAC’s review of the Shortage Occupation List. Attendees voiced concerns about the ongoing challenge of recruiting labour, especially in rural areas, which is hitting productivity and risks economic and social decline.
As well as inputting to the SOL review, Scotland Food & Drink will continue to explore all possible solutions to the pressing issue of short and long-term labour shortages to help strengthen our supply chains, build business resilience, support food security and boost Scotland’s economy.
Businesses and their representatives have until 26th May to input to the review.
