Aviemore and the Cairngorms
Kinrara Distillery is nestled in 10,000 acres of Cairngorm National Park, just outside Aviemore. Established in late 2017, with the first gin being produced in April 2018, within 8 weeks we were a finalist in 3 categories at The 2018 Scottish Gin Awards. We also won a silver medal for our Highland Dry at the 2019 Scottish Gin Awards and were voted in the top 10 Scottish Gins in the Scottish Gin Society Consumer Choice Awards in 2019. In 2020 we were also named a finalist in both the Rural Business Awards and The Gin Guide awards
The estate offers a range of flora and berries that we hand forage for our gins, dehydrate and mix with carefully sourced botanicals. This allows us to create our unique range of premium highland gins. We pride ourself on creating a handcrafted small batch spirit. From the distillation of the gin right down to the bottling, everything is lovingly done by hand, by our passionate highland team of 4.
Our multi award winning Highland Dry Gin has 10 botanicals, 2 of which are foraged from the estate. It is the most well known of our gins, and is very popular with our customers.
Our Hibiscus Gin gets compounded with sweet orange peel, rose petals and Hibiscus flowers for 7-10 days after distillation. It is our take on the 'pink gin' craze that is recently occurring. We don't add any flavourings or colourings to our gins, so the pink colour is all natural. The bottle has recently been redesigned, with us commissioning the Scottish artist Nichol Wheatley to design the bottle for us.
Finally, our Artist Edition Gins are limited edition. We enlisted the help of young Scottish artist Kat Baxter to help us design the gin. We currently have 'Freya the Fox' in this series, with the plan being to expand and work with other young Scottish artists. The bottle images were designed to show the botanicals within the gin, with each design being slightly different due to the separate gins within the bottles. There are also patches of our Estate Tweed in each design. We only made 2000 bottles of each gin, with many people collecting them as we release them.
We also have a range of our ‘Distiller’s Edition’ Gins, our take on flavoured gins while still remaining natural and full strength. Our Rose and Cardamom is the most popular of these gins, a take on a pink gin with subtle tastes of the east. Our Lime and Lemongrass gin is zesty and vibrant, perfect for warm summer evenings. Finally, our Oaked Spice gin is warming and festive, perfect for the long cold winter’s nights that Scotland is famous for.
