Pitlochry and Highland Perthshire
Pitlochry and Highland Perthshire.
Have you heard about the Neighbourfood network? It is a growing network of online markets that are providing a new way to shop and eat well while supporting our amazing and diverse range of small local producers especially through this challenging time. Every week you can choose from a growing range of products that come direct from local farms, food producers, market traders and specialist suppliers who can provide a wide selection of great quality fresh foods and other essential products such as fruit and veg, bread, pies and pastries, cheese, meat, fish, eggs, preserves and jams, beer, soaps and much more.
NeighbourFood Market in Pitlochry was launched Wednesday 24th June 2020.
The local Pitlochry & District Climate Cafe are helping with the setting up and running of our local NeighbourFood market as we think it is a great idea and useful to help reduce waste and our local community carbon footprint. So how does it work? It is very simple to sign up to and use. The customer goes to the NeighbourFood website and joins their local market. They will be emailed when a new market opens each Wednesday. Then they will have up to 5 days to place their weekly shop. Orders must be completed before Monday 1 am. Once the open shopping window closes for that week, all the orders are passed on to the producers and suppliers, who then have 2 days to make, bake, pick, harvest all the goods. All shopping is delivered to a designated local pick up point where customers orders are put together and either delivered to the customers or customers will be able to collect. In Pitlochry, the local pick up point is the Moulin Hall, Moulin Square PH16 5EW and the collection day is every Tuesday from the 30th June between 4 pm to 7 pm. However, during the lockdown, a delivery service will be provided. Starting with Pitlochry, we will also be looking at drop off points in Killiecrankie, Blair Atholl, Calvine, Tummel, Kinloch Rannoch, Aberfeldy Ballinluig and anywhere else in the Highland Perthshire area where there is interest. A NeighbourFood mission is to support and encourage good relationships between customers and producers through the provision of social opportunities such as tastings night at collections so they can get to know one another.
